My Entrepreneurship Story

My Entrepreneurship Story (3A)

As far as I can remember, I have been exposed to entrepreneurship for my whole life. The exposure is mostly due to my uncles and aunts and partially by my cousins. I have watch my uncles and aunts grow their business, which is a distribution center for industrial minerals, by three to four times the original size. During the summer, I had the chance to visit them and the difference in one year was shocking to say the least. They have truly inspired me to succeed like they did.

As for myself, I find it exciting to come up with plans of how to start a business and think of the potential that the business will have. I have been on some ventures in trying to create my own business, however most of them never took off. I believe the reason for this is the lack of experience and the lack of knowledge about entrepreneurship, causing me to decide to enroll in ENT 3003.

With that being said, what I truly want to gain after taking the course is the knowledge of how to start and maintain a “successful” business and how to generate business ideas.

  1. Thats awesome that your family owns their own business and they are truly living the entrepreneurship life style. Dr. Pryor said we dont have to be born into it but you my friend just might have been. Being an entrepreneur is exciting and I really look forward to developing my own business ideas or maybe helping the company I currently work for tackle a problem or task and become a successful intrapreneur.

  2. Hi Tan. I really enjoyed reading your post. It is really cool that your family owns this type of business. It definitely opens up your eyes to seeing Entrepreneurship before diving into it yourself. As far as your reflection on what you wish to take away from this class, I think it was great that you admitted to not be as successful as you would have liked to be on some ventures you have taken part of. Realizing your failure is that first step in reaching success.

  3. Tan,
Great job on your post. Your story of entrepreneurship is awesome and very interesting to read about. It is so cool that your family owns their own business and that you have been able to visit. It is a great opportunity for you because you can see first hand how to run a successful business and the hard work that goes into it.

  4. Tan,
Its great to be surrounded by people that have a similar mindset at you! Especially parents or family members that can be supportive. I think thats the most important so you'll never have to find yourself moving a mountain alone.
