13A – Reading Reflection No. 1

13A – Reading Reflection No. 1

 1) You read about an entrepreneur:
 What surprised you the most?
The thing that surprised me the most about Steve Jobs that he was not a typical student rather he experimented with different drugs and he still became a successful entrepreneur. This just go to prove that anyone from any background can become successful.

What about the entrepreneur did you most admire?
The thing that I admire about him the most was that he did not fit into the most of the typical entrepreneur. The was able to gain many perspectives which I think greatly aided him in creating his company.

What about the entrepreneur did you least admire?
The thing that I do not admire about this Steve Jobs was how he handle the situation with Chrrisann Brennan and their child, Lisa

Did the entrepreneur encounter adversity and failure? If so, what did they do about it?
Steve Jobs did face adversity in his career. One of the biggest thing that he had to face was money problem. In order to overcome, this obstacle he found an investor. The investor name was Mike Marrkula, who even helped him find a publicist for Apple.
2) What competencies did you notice that the entrepreneur exhibited?
I notice that Steve Jobs was very self-sufficient, idealistic, and calm.
3) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
The one thing that was kind of confusing was the Picasso quote and how that pertains to the biography or his career.
4) If you were able to ask two questions to the entrepreneur, what would you ask? Why?
What is your motivation for all of this? Was it money or was it the fact that you saw that you could have provided something better? I would ask Steve Jobs this because I truly want to know what motivate an entrepreneur.
How did you deal with the success? I want to ask him this question because some people let the success get to their head and they then become unable to perform the duties that come with the job. I was wanted to know how he stay so leveled-head?
5) For fun: what do you think the entrepreneur's opinion was of hard work? Do you share that opinion?
I think that his opinion of hard work is doing something that does not make you want to do it. You are not being commit to your work and are not passionate about it. I do believe that this is true because I feel like it is a waste of time and I have to work harder if I do not like the career that I chose.

  1. Hey Tan,
I read about the Wright brothers for my reading reflection. I find it very interesting that both of our entrepreneurs were individuals who were not the top of their class. Both of our entrepreneurs were ordinary individuals that ended up creating a product that revolutionized the world. I find it interesting that our hard work definitions are completely opposites though. I think you should answer the questions for the assignment with more detail next time. Maybe elaborate on them.

  2. Hi Tan. I can tell that you put much time and effort into the post and thoroughly understood what you read about your entrepreneur. The competencies and failures you addressed that your entrepreneur focused on made your post clearer. Your questions you would ask him if you could are focused and would gather a great deal of information.

  3. Hi Tan, I read about Steve Jobs too and I thought it was really interesting that he experimented with LSD as well. I actually forgot about the whole part about how Mike Marrkula helped him with his investments. Something I really admire about Jobs is his dedication to the present moment even when the future is so uncertain.
